Description
PHOSGUARD WSP is the most concentrated phosphite in the range, supplied as a fully soluble off-white powder rather than a liquid. At 96% potassium phosphite, it puts the highest phosphite and potassium loading into the smallest, lightest package, which suits dry storage, lower freight, and precise blending into custom programmes. Dissolved in water it behaves exactly as the liquid potassium phosphite does, delivering systemic defence support and a potassium contribution to crop quality. It is the grade to reach for when handling, concentration, or formulation flexibility is the priority.
Key Benefits
- Primes the crop’s own defences. Phosphite switches on the plant’s phytoalexin and phenolic responses and cell-wall reinforcement, putting the crop’s defences on alert before pressure arrives.
- Adds direct pressure against oomycetes. At working strength the phosphite is directly unfavourable to organisms such as Phytophthora and the downy mildews, complementing the plant’s induced response.
- Delivers the most concentrated phosphite in the range. As a 96% soluble powder it carries the highest phosphite and potassium loading, so less product covers the same programme.
- Simplifies storage and blending. The dry, fully soluble form lowers transport weight, stores without settling, and dissolves cleanly for custom tank blends.
- Supports crop quality through potassium. Once in solution the potassium contributes to sugar translocation and water regulation behind fruit and grain quality.
How It Works
PHOSGUARD WSP delivers phosphite, the phosphonate ion, which crops absorb quickly and move systemically through both xylem and phloem after a foliar spray or fertigation application. Inside the plant, phosphite acts in two complementary ways that depend on concentration. At higher local concentrations it is directly unfavourable to oomycete organisms such as Phytophthora, Pythium, and the downy mildews, slowing their growth and energy metabolism. At lower concentrations it primes the crop’s own defence system, triggering the synthesis of phytoalexins and other phenolic compounds, reinforcing cell walls with lignin and suberin, and raising the activity of defence-related enzymes. Because it is fully systemic, the protection reaches new growth and tissues the spray never directly contacted.
Supplied as a fully soluble off-white powder, this grade is the most concentrated form in the range, which suits dry storage, lower transport weight, and precise blending into tailored programmes. Once in solution it behaves identically to the liquid potassium phosphite, with the potassium contributing to sugar translocation, water regulation, and crop quality alongside the systemic defence activity.
When to Use PHOSGUARD WSP
PHOSGUARD WSP suits the same windows as the liquid grade, with the handling and blending advantages of a soluble powder.
- Apply PHOSGUARD WSP preventively through active growth and high-pressure periods, dissolved for foliar or fertigation use.
- Use PHOSGUARD WSP where a concentrated, low-weight product simplifies storage, transport, or custom programme blending.
- Include PHOSGUARD WSP across fruit and grain development to add a potassium contribution to crop quality.
Plants mount their strongest defences when they are healthy and unstressed; when a crop is under pressure those responses slow, which is exactly when systemic support earns its place. Applying ahead of and through high-pressure periods keeps the crop’s defences primed when it cannot fully prime them on its own.
