Description

NPK 16-8-34+TE lifts potassium for fruit development while holding more phosphate than a pure ripening grade, bridging the stage where a crop is still setting fruit but potassium demand is climbing. Its potassium is drawn from potassium nitrate, delivering high, chloride-free potassium with nitrate-led nitrogen, alongside a retained phosphate fraction and an EDTA-chelated micronutrient package. Fully water-soluble, it dissolves to a clear solution for fertigation and foliar use through the move from flowering into active fruit development. Its 1:0.5:2.1 skew puts potassium clearly in front while holding enough phosphate to carry continued fruit set.

Key Benefits

  • Supports fruit development and quality. The high potassium drives sugar loading, sizing and water regulation as fruit develops.
  • Retains phosphate through the set-to-fill transition. The 8% phosphate keeps phosphorus available for continued flowering and fruit set while potassium rises, unlike a pure ripening grade.
  • Feeds high, chloride-free potassium. Potassium is drawn from potassium nitrate, supplying high potassium with no chloride load for chloride-sensitive crops.
  • Balances development with mobile nitrogen. The nitrate-led nitrogen is immediately available to carry the crop through active development.
  • Tops up trace elements in available form. EDTA-chelated iron, manganese, zinc, copper, boron and molybdenum stay soluble and root-available.

How It Works

NPK 16-8-34+TE is a fully water-soluble mineral fertiliser that dissolves to a clear solution and delivers nitrogen, phosphate and potassium as plant-available ions, taken up through the roots in fertigation or through the leaf in foliar application. Because the nutrients are already in mineral, ionic form, the crop uses them without further breakdown, so the ratio in the tank is what shapes the feed the plant receives at each stage.

Its nitrogen is roughly 63% nitrate, 9% ammoniacal and 28% urea, a nitrate-led profile that keeps the crop fed quickly through active fruit development, while the retained phosphate stays available for the flowering and fruit set often still under way at this stage. Potassium regulates water status and drives sugar transport into developing fruit, and it comes from potassium nitrate so it arrives with mobile nitrate nitrogen and no chloride. The EDTA-chelated micronutrients stay soluble and root-available across typical solution pH rather than locking up as unavailable forms.

When to Use NPK 16-8-34+TE

Use it through the transition from flowering into fruit development, when potassium is rising but phosphorus is still in demand.

  • NPK 16-8-34+TE suits late flowering into early fruit development.
  • It supports crops that are still setting fruit while bulking begins.
  • It bridges programs between a high-phosphate bloom feed and a pure high-potassium ripening feed.

Use it between a phosphate-led bloom grade and a pure high-potassium ripening grade; move to a low-phosphate, high-potassium grade once phosphorus demand falls and ripening and quality become the sole focus.

Its nitrate-led nitrogen gives a near-neutral effect on root-zone pH, so it does not drive the acidification that ammonium-heavy grades do.

Application

Rates scale with crop, stage and system. As a starting point, dissolve at 1.5 to 3 g/L through fertigation from fruit set into fill, easing to 1 g/L on sensitive crops and rising toward 4 g/L for heavy feeders at peak demand, with solution EC kept within tolerance. For foliar use stay near 1 to 2 g/L and spray in early morning or late afternoon.

The table below covers the crops and stages this grade suits, with starting rates to fine-tune to local water quality and the crop’s salinity tolerance. Fertigation figures are concentrations for constant feeding in the irrigation water; foliar figures are spray concentrations.

Crop Stage / timing Fertigation (g/L) Foliar (g/L)
Fruiting vegetables Fruit set into early fill 1.5–3 2–3
Grapes Fruit set to early berry fill 1.5–3 2–4
Top & stone fruit Fruit set to early fill 1.5–3 2–3
Strawberry Fruit set to fill 1–2 1.5–2.5
Citrus Early fruit development 1.5–3 2–4

Use the lower end on salinity-sensitive crops and the upper end for established heavy feeders at
peak demand. For foliar use, spray in early morning or late afternoon, never in heat, and keep the
nutrient-solution EC within the crop’s tolerance.
