Description

NPK 15-5-40+TE loads potassium well above nitrogen and phosphate, the profile for the fruit-fill and ripening window when potassium demand peaks. The potassium is drawn from potassium nitrate, so it carries high potassium and mobile nitrate nitrogen with no chloride load, alongside a low phosphate fraction and an EDTA-chelated micronutrient package. Fully water-soluble, it dissolves to a clear solution for fertigation and foliar feeding as the crop shifts from building canopy to filling and finishing fruit. Its 1:0.3:2.7 skew places potassium well ahead and keeps phosphate minimal, focusing the crop on fruit rather than new growth.

Key Benefits

  • Supports fruit sizing and quality. The high potassium drives carbohydrate transport, sugar loading and water regulation during fruit fill and ripening.
  • Feeds potassium without a chloride load. Potassium is drawn from potassium nitrate, delivering high potassium and nitrate nitrogen with no chloride, which suits chloride-sensitive crops.
  • Pairs the stage with mobile nitrate nitrogen. The nitrate-led nitrogen is immediately available, and cation uptake pairs well with the heavy potassium demand of the fruiting stage.
  • Focuses the feed on fruit, not canopy. The low nitrogen-to-potassium ratio and minimal phosphate avoid pushing leafy growth when the crop should be putting energy into fruit.
  • Tops up trace elements in available form. EDTA-chelated iron, manganese, zinc, copper, boron and molybdenum stay soluble and root-available through the finishing period.

How It Works

NPK 15-5-40+TE is a fully water-soluble mineral fertiliser that dissolves to a clear solution and delivers nitrogen, phosphate and potassium as plant-available ions, taken up through the roots in fertigation or through the leaf in foliar application. Because the nutrients are already in mineral, ionic form, the crop uses them without further breakdown, so the ratio in the tank is what shapes the feed the plant receives at each stage.

Its nitrogen is about 61% nitrate and 39% urea, a nitrate-led profile that suits the fruiting stage: nitrate is mobile and immediately available, and its uptake pairs with the heavy potassium demand of fill and ripening, while the urea fraction extends the feed. Potassium regulates the plant’s water status and drives the transport of sugars into developing fruit, and here it comes from potassium nitrate so it arrives with that nitrate nitrogen and no chloride, while phosphate is kept low to avoid steering the crop back toward vegetative growth. The EDTA-chelated micronutrients stay soluble and root-available across the mildly acidic to neutral pH of most nutrient solutions rather than locking up.

When to Use NPK 15-5-40+TE

Use it once fruit set begins and the crop moves from building canopy to filling and ripening fruit.

  • NPK 15-5-40+TE suits the fruit-fill and bulking phase when potassium demand climbs.
  • It supports final quality and ripening feeds ahead of harvest.
  • It fits potassium-hungry tuber and root bulking where sizing and quality are the goal.

Bring it in once the crop shifts from vegetative growth to fruiting; earlier stages want more nitrogen for canopy or more phosphate for rooting and set.

Its nitrate-led nitrogen keeps the root-zone reaction close to neutral, without the acidifying pull of ammonium-led grades.

Application

Rates scale with crop, stage and system. As a starting point, dissolve at 1.5 to 3 g/L through fertigation during fruit fill and ripening, easing to 1 g/L on salinity-sensitive crops and rising to around 4 g/L for heavy-feeding, salt-tolerant crops at peak demand, with solution EC kept within tolerance. For foliar use stay near 1 to 2 g/L and spray in the cooler parts of the day.

Use the guide below as a crop-group starting point, then fine-tune to local water quality, growth stage and the crop’s salinity tolerance. Fertigation figures are concentrations for constant feeding in the irrigation water; foliar figures are spray concentrations.

Crop Stage / timing Fertigation (g/L) Foliar (g/L)
Fruiting vegetables (tomato, pepper, melon) Fruit fill to ripening 2–3 (to 4 at peak) 2–3
Grapes (table / wine) Veraison to ripening 1.5–3 2–4
Top & stone fruit Fruit fill to colour / ripening 1.5–3 2–3
Potato, root & tuber Tuber / root bulking 1.5–2.5 2–3
Citrus Fruit development to ripening 1.5–3 2–4
Banana Bunch fill 1.5–3 3–5

Use the lower end on salinity-sensitive crops and the upper end for established heavy feeders at
peak demand. For foliar use, spray in early morning or late afternoon, never in heat, and keep the
nutrient-solution EC within the crop’s tolerance.
