Description

NPK 10-55-10+TE is built around phosphate, more than half its analysis, to drive root initiation and establishment in young and transplanted crops. Its phosphate share dwarfs nitrogen and potassium, so the grade works as a short-window trigger rather than a season-long feed: it fires up rooting and early establishment, then a more balanced or stage-specific grade takes over. The nitrogen is supplied entirely as ammonium, which is held in the root zone and mildly acidifies the rhizosphere to keep phosphorus available, alongside a supporting potassium fraction and an EDTA-chelated micronutrient package. Fully water-soluble, it dissolves to a clear solution for starter fertigation and foliar use when rooting and establishment are the priority. At 1:5.5:1, its phosphate skew is the strongest in the range, which is exactly what makes it an initiation trigger rather than a feed to hold on.

Key Benefits

  • Drives root development and establishment. The high phosphate supplies phosphorus for root initiation, early root growth and the energy transfer young plants need to establish.
  • Pairs ammoniacal nitrogen with phosphorus uptake. Nitrogen is supplied entirely as ammonium, held in the root zone and mildly acidifying the rhizosphere, which improves the availability and uptake of phosphorus.
  • Supplies phosphate in fully water-soluble form. The phosphate is fully water-soluble and immediately available to young roots, rather than tied up as slow-release granular or rock phosphate.
  • Backs establishment with potassium. The potassium fraction supports early water regulation and stress tolerance as the young crop establishes.
  • Tops up trace elements in available form. EDTA-chelated iron, manganese, zinc, copper, boron and molybdenum stay soluble and root-available for developing roots.

How It Works

NPK 10-55-10+TE is a fully water-soluble mineral fertiliser that dissolves to a clear solution and delivers nitrogen, phosphate and potassium as plant-available ions, taken up through the roots in fertigation or through the leaf in foliar application. Because the nutrients are already in mineral, ionic form, the crop uses them without further breakdown, so the ratio in the tank is what shapes the feed the plant receives at each stage.

Nitrogen here is supplied entirely as ammonium, which the root zone holds rather than losing to leaching and which slightly acidifies the rhizosphere, keeping phosphorus soluble and available; this is why an ammoniacal, high-phosphate starter is effective at establishment. The fully water-soluble phosphate reaches young roots directly to support root initiation and early energy transfer, while the EDTA-chelated micronutrients stay soluble and root-available across typical solution pH rather than locking up as unavailable forms.

When to Use NPK 10-55-10+TE

Use it at planting and early establishment, when rooting is the priority.

  • NPK 10-55-10+TE suits transplanting and seedling establishment.
  • It supports early root development in the weeks before flowering.
  • It fits starter feeds in cool soils where phosphorus is less available to young roots.

Apply it as a short, decisive intervention, then move to a balanced or stage-specific grade once roots are away; its low nitrogen and potassium mean it is not built to sustain the crop on its own. Phosphorus availability also falls in cold soils, which is exactly when a fully soluble starter phosphate matters most.

Its all-ammonium nitrogen actively acidifies the rhizosphere, which is part of how it improves phosphorus availability; on already-acidic substrates monitor pH so it does not fall too far.

Application

Rates scale with crop, stage and system. As a starting point, dissolve at 1 to 2 g/L on young and establishing crops, easing to 0.5 g/L for seedlings and transplants where a light, precise starter feed matters most, and keep solution EC within their tolerance. For foliar use stay at the low end and spray in the cooler parts of the day.

The table below covers the crops and stages this grade suits, with starting rates to fine-tune to local water quality and the crop’s salinity tolerance. Fertigation figures are concentrations for constant feeding in the irrigation water; foliar figures are spray concentrations.

Crop Stage / timing Fertigation (g/L) Foliar (g/L)
Vegetable transplants At transplant / establishment 0.5–1.5 1–2
Strawberry (plugs / runners) Planting / early rooting 0.5–1 1–2
Young trees & vines Planting / spring root flush 1–2 2–3
Cereals & arable Establishment / early tillering 1.5–2.5 2–3
Potato Planting to emergence 1–2 1–2
Ornamentals & nursery Rooting / establishment 0.5–1.5 1–2
