Description

PRIME AA CAL delivers calcium to the fruit and rapidly growing tissues where firmness, storability and resistance to calcium disorders are decided. Produced from hydrolysed collagen through the Peptionics process, it complexes calcium with free amino acids and short peptides that improve its entry through the leaf and its movement within the plant, the steps where ordinary calcium falls short. It supplies 7.4% calcium as CaO on a 30.8% amino acid base, with a balanced free fraction for steady availability and organic, amino-acid-form nitrogen that feeds the crop alongside the calcium. PRIME AA CAL targets the rapid cell-division and fruit-sizing stages, when calcium demand peaks and structural quality is set.

Key Benefits

  • Moves calcium past its natural limits. PRIME AA CAL complexes calcium with amino acids to improve its entry through the leaf and its movement within the plant, so calcium reaches the fruit and growing points that free calcium ions cannot, the tissues where disorders such as blossom-end rot and bitter pit begin.
  • Builds firmer, better-structured tissue. Calcium cross-links cell walls and stabilises membranes, giving firmer fruit and stronger tissue that holds condition through handling and storage.
  • Acts as a calcium signal for stress and development. Beyond its structural role, calcium works as an intracellular second messenger, helping the crop coordinate its response to stress and regulate development.
  • Feeds the crop while it corrects calcium. The organic, amino-acid-form nitrogen and the free amino acids supply ready-made metabolic building blocks, supporting growth and recovery at the same time as the calcium correction.
  • Encourages root and shoot vigour. The hydrolysate stimulates root growth and lateral root density, building the architecture that underpins establishment and sustained nutrient capture.

How It Works

PRIME AA CAL is built on a protein hydrolysate: collagen broken down into free amino acids and short peptides that the plant absorbs and uses ready-made. Those amino acids act as natural complexing agents, binding calcium and holding it in a soluble, protected form. This matters for calcium in particular, because free calcium is taken up slowly, moves only in the transpiration stream, and cannot be redistributed to fruit and growing points; complexing it with amino acids improves its entry through the leaf and its movement within the plant.

Once inside the plant, the amino acids and peptides feed nitrogen and carbon metabolism, supplying the building blocks for proteins and supporting the enzymes of nitrogen assimilation. They also act as osmolytes and signalling molecules that help the crop hold performance under stress, and they stimulate the root development that underpins further nutrient uptake. The free amino acid fraction is available immediately, while the bound peptides release more gradually, giving both a fast response and sustained activity.

When to Use PRIME AA CAL

Apply through the stages when calcium demand is highest and fruit quality is being set.

  • PRIME AA CAL suits early fruit set and the rapid cell-division phase, when developing fruit lay down the calcium that determines firmness and quality.
  • It fits the fruit-sizing and bulking stages, when calcium demand outpaces what the plant can move on its own.
  • Use it on leafy and heading crops during rapid expansion to support integrity in fast-growing tissue.
  • It integrates into foliar and fertigation programs wherever calcium-related disorders are a recurring risk.

Adverse growing conditions slow transpiration and root activity, the very pathways calcium depends on, which is when complexed, readily available calcium matters most.
